Aquarium Field Trip

Kingdom Animalia
Phylum Chordata,
Class Reptilia,
Order Squamata (lizards and snakes),
Suborder Serpentes,
Family Boidae (constrictors),
Genus Corallus,
Species C. caninus.

Why is like all snakes ?
Like all snakes, the emerald tree boa is cold-blooded; they are the same temperature as the environment. The emerald tree boa grows to be about 7.25 feet (2.2m) long. The forked tongue senses odors. There are heat sensors under the upper lip; these help the snake locate warm-blooded prey, like mammals and birds.

BIO 11 overview

This semester we studied and we go over interesting chapters and topics  of biology 11 .
We started with evolution and now we studying plants.
I will show you a list of the all main topics that we went through :

1. Scientific method  and steps :  hypothesis , observation , analyzing the results and a conclusive
                                                  Theory

2. Language of science ( scientific vocabulary ) : little words that are linked together and have
                                                                         different meanings.

3. Characteristics of living things : 5 important characteristics

4. Evolution :    indirect + direct evidence
                          Lamarck and Darwin + theories
                          Natural selection
                          Speciation

7.Taxonomy : Levels-kingdom and different characteristics of these.

-Virus : Characteristics- life cycle-Viral disease
-Bacteria : Characteristics- life cycle- Bacterial disease
-Protista : animal-like and plant-like + characteristics

 8.Animal Kingdom + characteristics

- Worms:  Platyhelmintes - Nematodes - Annelids
                 Flatworm / Roundworms / Earthworm
-Molluscs:  Snail - Clam- Octopus squid
 -Arthropods: Chilipoda - Insecta - Diplopoda - Arachinida ..
 -Chordata:  Fishes
                   Amphibians
                   Reptiles                  +  Characteristics
                   Birds
                   Mammals

9.Kingdom Plantae :     Algae                           Nonvascular plants
                                    Bryophyta

                                    Tracheophyta
                                    Gymnosperms               Vascular plants
                                    Angiosperm

I wouldn't change anything from what i did in Biology 11. Biology it's full of the interesting things of life and life of pasts . I really enjoyed studying it and i learned so much inthis semester.

Arthropod

This is a grasshopper , from the phylum of arthropods.
It's body is divided in three main parts:
Head : composed by antennae, compound eye, brain and mouth
Thorax: that  connect head region to the abdomen. Composed by nerve cords and digestive tract
Abdomen: final region composed by ovary, heart, wings, spiracle, malphighian tubules, tracheal tube

Interesting thing of grasshopper is their incomplete metamorphosis in which they increase in size . While in the opposite side some of arthropod like butterfly do a complete metamorphosis in which they change completely from their parents.

Flatworm

This is a flatworm , its phylum is Platyhelmintes , and it is parasitic and freeliving. The thing that i find most interesting of this worm is that it is also hermaphrodite , i found its life  cicle most interesting.
